Honours Student

Miss Grace Hewitt

Grace is undertaking an Honours degree within a Bachelor of Biomedical Science. During her studies she developed a strong interest in multi-omics and toxicology, motivating her to pursue a future career in research that integrates these disciplines.

She has worked alongside senior researchers to gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of how discoveries in fundamental science are translated into meaningful patient outcomes.

For her Honours project, Grace is investigating the underlying mechanisms of chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity at a transcriptomic and proteomic scale. Her research aims to uncover the biomolecular drivers of the cardiotoxic effects associated with anti-cancer therapies, with the goal of informing strategies to mitigate heart failure and improve long-term outcomes for cancer survivors.

She also has an interest in the cardiovascular impacts of environmental particulate-matter exposure, and hopes to continue into a PhD in the Cardio-Oncology group within these fields.
