About the Centre

Australia’s first dedicated cardio-oncology centre, advancing the research that protects the hearts of cancer patients through and beyond their treatment.

Our Story

The Newcastle Cardio-Oncology Centre of Excellence was established in 2018 to answer an urgent and growing need: as cancer survival rates improve, more patients face cardiovascular complications from the very treatments that save their lives.

Bringing together cardiologists, oncologists, pharmacists, researchers and allied health professionals, the Centre pioneered a multidisciplinary model of care and discovery, uniting bench science, clinical expertise and patient-centred research under one roof. Today it stands as Australia’s first dedicated cardio-oncology centre and an internationally recognised, gold-tier accredited programme.

Our mission is simple and ambitious: to ensure that no patient’s heart is left behind in the fight against cancer.
